My background? I’m a graduate of nationally and internationally accredited institutes, such as the 3-year program of the West Coast Masterson Institute, which specializes in training models pertaining to personality disorders. I am a graduate psychoanalyst from the full analytic training program of the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis (SFCP), and I’m currently an instructor and chairman within its extension program, the East Bay Year Long (EBYL) program of psychoanalytic study. I have also taught at the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California (PINC) and have presented academic papers and case studies at Bay Area psychoanalytic forums. I have published two books with Rowman & Littlefield and now Bloomsbury publishing, and I am the winner of the Lee Jaffe 2025/26 Candidates Council Paper prize as awarded by the American Psychoanalytic Association (ApsA). With nearly 30 years of clinical experience and knowledge, I bring a decade of graduate and post-graduate education and training to a wide range of life situations and difficulties, working with a diverse patient population that encompasses various ethnicities, genders, ages, and socioeconomic classes. I can offer psychoanalysis, or individual psychoanalytically oriented therapy, distinguished in part by a lesser frequency of meetings and without use of an analytic couch. I also offer marriage counseling, or couples therapy, even group therapy, plus experienced, analytically-informed consultation regarding alcoholism, substance use disorders, or compulsive sexuality.
